The Best Ever Homemade Enchilada Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 3 Tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp flour
  • 3 Tbsp chili powder
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  • 3 cups vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt (or more to taste)

Method
 

  1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Sprinkle flour over oil and whisk until smooth. Cook one minute, stirring constantly. Stir in chili powder and cook for another 30 seconds.
  2. Whisk in tomato paste, broth, and remaining seasonings. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Taste and adjust seasonings if you'd like, then it's ready to go!
